The city of West Lake Hills was founded and incorporated as a village on September 9, 1953. The city today is comprised of 2,560 acres (4 square miles) with approximately 40 miles of public streets. The population is 3,063 (2010 census) with approximately 1,000 homes and 200 businesses.

Westlake High School–  Westlake High School is a comprehensive, four-year public high school where the curriculum is primarily college preparatory. Westlake Chamber of Commerce – Located within the three cities of West Lake Hills, Rollingwood and Austin, Texas, the Westlake Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit business membership organization that supports the local community by educating, connecting and mobilizing member businesses in the greater Westlake area.

The Westlake Fire Department – The Westlake Fire Department consists of over 30 career professionals. These professionals provide services in the following areas: structural fire suppression, wildland fire fighting, EMS first response services, technical rescues (including  rope, water and vehicle rescues).
